Poole · BH12 – BH17, plus BH13 and BH14
We clean, inspect and make minor repairs to existing solar arrays across Poole on a monthly plan, rather than as one-off jobs. This is our home patch — we are based in Poole, so it is the shortest journey we make.
We cover Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs, Lilliput, Parkstone, Broadstone, Hamworthy and Upton, and the surrounding BH12 – BH17, plus BH13 and BH14 postcodes.
What actually lands on a roof in Poole, and why it matters.
Poole Harbour is one of the largest natural harbours in the world, and most of the town sits within a couple of miles of either the harbour or Poole Bay. Salt aerosol carries a long way inland on a south-westerly. It settles as a fine film that dries hard, and it is one of the deposits that rain genuinely does not shift — it simply redistributes it.
Anything on the peninsula or the cliff tops takes salt from two directions with nothing in the way. These also tend to be the larger arrays, where a few percent of lost output is a meaningful number rather than a rounding error.
Herring gulls nest readily on the flat and shallow-pitch roofs common around the harbour and the town centre. Droppings are the single most damaging thing that lands on a panel, and gulls are territorial enough to keep returning to the same roof.
The chines and the pines that Poole shares with Bournemouth drop a fine yellow pollen through May and June. On its own it rinses off. Combined with salt film it makes a paste that does not.
Our honest take for Poole: If you are on the harbour side or the cliffs, we would generally suggest the more frequent visit pattern rather than the minimum. Salt is relentless in a way that inland dust is not.
We are a maintenance and cleaning business, not an MCS-certified installer. If something needs an installer or an electrician, we will tell you plainly rather than have a go.
The honest answer depends on where your roof is and what is above it, which is exactly what the sections above are about. We have written up the reasoning in full: how often solar panels should be cleaned in the UK.
